Artist's Comments

Something I'm working on. It will eventually be on non lined paper, and hopefully she'll have a hand.

I was going to complain loudly and vocally about this being drawn on a lined piece of paper, but seeing that you're planning on redrawing it... I'll spare you the whining. :D

I like her pose and the way she's standing - gives her attitude and some kind of flare. Critique wise, her anatomy is slightly off. See how far apart her legs are? Follow their lines up and see how high up they'd go before connecting? The legs are also a little too long or perhaps it's the arms and torso that are too short. A good anatomy check is that the elbow should be able to reach the hip-bones. Try it out on yourself - see? Her elbows only reach the waist.

Other critical comment about this is the scarf and hair. She's moving and that swung the scarf out - what about the hair? Finally, her face. It's really good and proportional except for the cheekbone on the lefthand side. It's a little too low, and I blame it on the lines messing with perspective and fooling the hand and eye into drawing it this way. Honestly, all my comments here are about stuff that would be easy to fix in a redraw.

That's great news; means that as far as I can tell and judge, I think picture itself is a solid one. Thank you for sharing it and good luck with it. I'm hoping to see what you come up with for this concept, so don't forget to message me when you're done, okay?

Thanks. Yeah, I'm going to redraw it. I didn't have non lined paper with me when I started it. Her legs are supposed to be slightly longer than they should, though the arm could use fixing, I see how wonky it looks now. The legs too far apart? Hmm, I used reference and they were that far, but I could adjust it when I re draw it. Oh God, her cheek is weird, I was wondering what was bugging me about her face. About the hair... I actually was thinking of giving it motion, but forgot to go back and do that. Thanks for reminding me. <3

lol, tl;dr thanks you awesome person you. ;3

Haha, after my monster of a comment, tl;dr would just be silly. If you used a reference, then the legs might be fine but the rest of the image makes it look off. This is always a bit of an iffy in art. One detail can throw everything off, or vice versa. Everything depends on everything else -- and now I sound like a fortune cookie!

You are very sincerely welcome; it was my pleasure and I was glad to have a chance to meet and chat with you. Good luck with this!

maybe we should add each other to our respective watch lists? ;3
